Sale of Laydex Building Solutions by Salix Group AB
Laydex Building Solutions was founded in 1995 by Ian Woods (Chairman) and has been led by Managing Director Peter Woods since 2019, growing to become a leading distributor of building materials across Ireland with operations in Dublin and Belfast.
Pegasus Capital advised the shareholders of Laydex Building Solutions on the acquisition of the business by Salix Group AB. Laydex is a leading distributor of roofing, flooring and general building materials in Ireland, supplying a broad range of branded and company-owned specialist products to builders’ merchants and retailers, as well as directly to the construction sector.
Salix Group AB is a leading Sweden-based long-term owner and acquirer of trading businesses supplying products for building and industry, primarily across the Nordic region. Salix Group is part of Swedish industrial group Volati AB (Nasdaq-STO: VOLO), which has announced its intention to separately list Salix Group on the Swedish stock exchange. The acquisition of Laydex represents a strategic entry into the Irish market, establishing a new platform for Salix Group ahead of that listing.
The acquisition of Laydex represents a strategic entry into the Irish market, establishing a scalable platform from which Salix Group can pursue both organic growth and future complementary acquisitions in Ireland and beyond - and a significant stepping stone ahead of its planned separate listing on the Swedish stock exchange.
